Dear LinkedIn Algorithm:
Please show me the success stories of people who have landed new jobs, either in their field of expertise or in their new fields. The reason for their job change does not matter.
I'm seeing a lot of posts about how tough the job market is right now, but I know nothing is impossible.
Reading these stories, I see people's mistakes:
how they're positioning themselves
ingrained false beliefs about possibilities or what they deserve in life
not enough applications daily
focusing too much on the wrong things
The more challenging it gets, the more you must hustle and innovate. You must try multiple things and double down on all of them. Instead of applying for 10 jobs a day, you apply for 20. You double down on what works. There’s a high chance things should be reworded on the resume. Here, brute-force action is required, but it is not impossible.
Some silent recruiters and headhunters watch these platforms for active individuals seeking probable candidates for the untapped, unadvertised 80% of existing job openings.
Therefore, the pictures painted by individuals declaring how impossible it is to find work can't be 100% true for everyone. I know success stories exist.
I want you, the algorithm, to show them to me.
In fact, for every negative story about how bad the job market might be, show me TWO success stories of people who have found new roles. I know people are finding work, and I know they are relieved to have the jobs they so desperately sought.
People need to see other people succeeding in this. Seeing others win gives them hope.
Doesn't LinkedIn want to contribute to the greater good of people who hope to land a new role? Isn't that, in part, why the platform exists?
Again, the directions are: Show two success stories of people getting new jobs for every negative one in a person's feed.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Someone who pops in every once in a while.
